The Maui News

Jane Croson returned to the University of Hawaii women's volleyball lineup Thursday night, helping the team sweep UC Santa Barbara at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Emily Hartong had 11 kills for the Rainbow Wahine, while Croson and Molokai High School graduate Kalei Adolpho each had eight in a 25-8, 25-19, 25-18 victory.

Croson had been suspended since Oct. 3 for an unspecified violation of team rules.

Adolpho finished with a team-best .636 hitting percentage as UH, No. 9 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, improved to 20-2 (13-0 Big West). Adolpho has 37 kills and a .422 percentage in her last five matches.

Kamehameha Maui graduate Ginger Long played in two sets for UH.

Leah Sully had seven kills for the Gauchos (13-13, 6-5).

Hawaii will host Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo on Saturday.
