Maui County Council Member Mike Victorino has spent close to $100,000 on his bid for re-election with a week to go before the general election.
Victorino - who holds the Wailuku-Waihee-Waikapu residency seat - has spent $96,750 so far, according to his most recent filing with the state Campaign Spending Commission that was due Monday.
The latest reporting period includes the two months since the August primary election, from Aug. 12 to Oct. 22. Reports were due before midnight Monday.
During that time frame, Victorino reported raising $15,184 in contributions. That brings his fundraising total to $75,914 for the election cycle. Just over half of Victorino's reported contributions came from donations of $100 or less, according to his report.
His opponent, Joseph Blackburn III, reported spending $30,149 so far, including $3,751 during the two-month reporting period.
Blackburn has raised $28,630 in contributions so far this year, including $1,549 during the most recent reporting period.
Victorino reported having $7,015 in cash on hand as of Oct. 22, while Blackburn's campaign is in the red $1,319 after taking out a $1,500 loan during the reporting period.
While some candidates had not yet filed their reports as of Monday evening, here's a look at some of the early filings in Maui legislative and County Council races.
* Democratic incumbent West and South Maui Sen. Roz Baker reported having more than $88,400 in cash on hand leading into the general election.
Baker received $9,415 in contributions during the latest reporting period, bringing her fundraising total to $182,718 for this election.
She spent $27,860 in the last two months, and $104,646 on her campaign so far.
Baker's Republican challenger in the 6th District race, Bart Mulvihill, had not yet filed as of Monday evening. He previously reported zero contributions and $700 in campaign expenses through the Aug. 11 primary. He also reported owing $2,050 in loans as of Aug. 11.
* Candidates for the state House seat representing District 13 East Maui, Molokai, Lanai and Kahoolawe are almost neck-and-neck in their campaign fundraising totals.
Democratic incumbent Rep. Mele Carroll has raised $7,650 for her campaign so far, while Republican opponent Simon Russell has brought in $7,561.
But Russell has outspent Carroll, reporting expenditures of $8,531, including $4,989 in the two months since the primary.
Carroll has spent $3,805, including $1,924 in the latest reporting period.
That leaves Carroll with a little more than $5,000 in cash on hand, while Russell reported a negative $40 balance.
* Gladys Baisa, who holds the County Council's Upcountry residency seat, has both raised and spent about $49,000 on her re-election bid and reported having more than $21,000 in cash on hand.
Her opponent, Richard Pohle, had not filed a report as of Monday evening. The Campaign Spending Commission website showed Pohle had not filed a report since July. He had reported zero funds coming in or going out as of June 30.
