Promotions for four veteran firefighters

Firefighters Bram Denhaan, Lee Theros, Shawn Rogers and Geoffrey Bogar are being promoted to the rank of captain.

Denhaan, a 19-year veteran, will be assigned to the "A" Watch at the Hoolehua Fire Station on Molokai. He joined the department March 1, 1994, working on a Napili engine company for one year and a Kihei engine company for six years.

He was promoted to firefighter II and assigned to a Kahului rescue company for five years. After being promoted to firefighter III, he spent a year and a half in the Training Bureau, then six months with a Kahului tanker company. He was assigned to a Wailea ladder company for the past five years.

Denhaan is a cardiopulmonary resuscitation first responder and Community Emergency Response Team instructor.

Theros, a 15-year veteran, will be assigned to the "B" Watch at the Kaunakakai Fire Station. He joined the department Aug. 1, 1997, working with a Kaunakakai engine company for two years and at a Lahaina ladder company for six years and nine months.

After being promoted to firefighter III, Theros was assigned to a Kaunakakai tanker company for eight months and to a Lahaina ladder company for the past six years.

Rogers, a 13 1/2-year veteran, will be assigned to the "B" Watch at the Hoolehua Fire Station. He joined the department May 3, 1999, spending six years with a Lahaina ladder company. He was promoted to firefighter II and assigned to a Kahului rescue company for 1 1/2 years. He was then promoted to fire-fighter III and assigned to the Pukoo Fire Station on Molokai for six months before being reassigned to a Lahaina ladder company for the last five years.

Bogar, an 18-year veteran, is awaiting his assignment. He joined the department Nov. 16, 1994, working for two years at a Kihei engine company, four years at a Lahaina engine company and three years at a Lahaina ladder company. He was promoted to firefighter II and assigned to a Kahului rescue crew for two years. After being promoted to firefighter III, he spent one year with a Wailea engine company, one year at a Lanai tanker company and two years at a Lahaina engine company. He is currently assigned to a Kahului rescue company.

The promotions take effect Thursday.
