The Oct. 15 Maui News front-page top headline: "Alaskan congressman now behind Lingle." How does this item become front-page news? It becomes so when The Maui News' blatant bias favoring Linda Lingle migrates from the Opinion page to the front page.
The article states that Don Young's reasons for backing Lingle are almost identical to those he espoused in July when he endorsed Mazie Hirono. Did I miss it or was the July endorsement not featured on The Maui News' front page? It was certainly a far more newsworthy story that a Republican endorsed a Democrat.
It seems obvious to me, at least, that ol' Don was taken behind the woodshed and told in no uncertain terms by the powers that be in the Republican Party to change the name on his endorsement.
Lingle is receiving funding from Karl Rove. You remember him, he was instrumental in subjecting the world to a disastrous eight years of tyranny by a born-again moron named George W. Bush. If anyone believes that if Lingle is elected to the Senate she will not toe the Rove Republican line, they are sadly mistaken.
Lingle has been harping on Hirono's inability to pass any legislation. The House of Representatives is currently dominated by obstructionist Republican louts who truly believe the words "compromise" and "weakness" are synonymous. It is impossible for a Democrat to get the time of day through the House. This gridlock cannot be broken by electing anymore Republicans to Congress.
