Hirono, Ing supported; present councilors not

October 28, 2012
The Maui News

In the U.S. Senate race to replace Dan Akaka: Mazie Hirono is a great representative and will make a great U.S. senator. Linda Lingle is a lawbreaker and if it were not for her, we would have the Superferry.

So, if you liked the Superferry, you lost it because of Lingle. If you did not like the Superferry, well, obviously you do not want to vote for Lingle, who corrupted the entire process in her quest to further enrich the rich. And never forget that she sacrificed the keiki's education on purpose.

In the state House South Maui race, Kaniela Ing is whip-smart, energetic and will instantly command the respect of his colleagues. Our current representative, George Fontaine, is a Republican who introduces bills that go nowhere and has no influence and no potential to have any. He is also one of the most mean-spirited people ever to run for office in Hawaii.

Regarding the County Council, All present council members are discredited for tripling most families' property taxes or failing to stand against it. So, I'm for Joe Blackburn, Richard Pohle and Alana Kay over their opponents on the council now.

There is also a proposal to let them serve four years instead of two. That's just to avoid accountability. No on four-year terms, for sure.

Being haole, I stand aside on Office of Hawaiian Affairs candidacies. Good luck to all OHA candidates. Unify, don't divide.
