Trolling will be allowed in the waters of the Kahoolawe Island Reserve Nov. 10, 11, 24 and 25, the Kaho'olawe Island Reserve Commission announced.
All vessels must register annually with the commission before entering the reserve to troll during the designated dates. Filing of a catch report is required, and there is a $25 permitting fee.
Access to reserve waters are restricted because of the presence of unexploded ordnance from years of Navy training on the island and for the protection of marine resources. Reserve waters are within two nautical miles of the island.
Other fishing, ocean recreation and commercial activities are prohibited.
For more information or to register, contact Dean Tokishi at 243-5889 or at dtokishi@ kirc.hawaii.gov or go to the website kahoolawe.hawaii.gov.
