"Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. on the Events Lawn, where you can come in early and enjoy a delicious meal and cold beverages prior to the 7 p.m. show," says Lisa Haole, co director of food and beverage.
"Kobehana of Maui chefs will showcase teppanyaki skills with rib-eye steaks, teri chicken and miso butter shrimp.
Uishi sushi will be on the menu at the Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui as part of the Restaurant Week Wailea semi-annual promotion of discounted meals Nov. 4 to 10.
"Carol O'Leary of Longhi's is back on Maui and will present her signatures dishes of grilled veggie lasagna and grilled chicken on focaccia with Mediterranean salsa and aioli. Outrigger Pizza will be baking up a variety of its fire-oven pizzas and Mulligans on the Blue will do fish and chips, Irish stew with soda bread and crispy Caesar salads! Crunch popcorn from Maui Kazowie and dig into desserts.
HOT ON HALLOWEEN . . . While the majority of revelers will strut down Front Street in Lahaina Oct. 31, we hear the Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa in Kaanapali will get things going early from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 with its Roktoberfest at Umalu.
The food and drink specials include Alona's famous Witch's brew; and Pavy's blood fondue. There will be live music with Gangnam rapper tunes, and more edible specials.
"The Hyatt Maui is throwing the hottest poolside Halloween party this year, "Gangnam Style," says its publicist Kelly Logan. "Highlights include a $1,000 cash prize costume contest, a dance off, food and drink specials and much more!"
Oct. 31, hop aboard the Pacific Whale Foundation's Halloween Cocktail Cruises with food buffets, beers and mai tais, departing at 6 and 6:30 p.m. at Maalaea Harbor. Call 249-8811.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS . . . Those who want to ferry or fly over to the Friendly Isle on Saturday, Nov. 3 may partake in the Molokai Food & Business Expo at the Paddlers Inn in Kaunakakai.
Presented by the Molokai Chamber of Commerce from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event will feature top chefs from Maui, Molokai and Lanai, creating unique and delectable dishes using Molokai products.
Moving along, Jim Powlan of Chambers & Chambers Wine Merchants is also an artist and a member of the Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center. With his wine cap on, he and his company will once again present the Wailea Food & Wine Celebration at Hotel Wailea on Nov. 9 with top Maui chefs and visiting vintners. Back by popular demand will be Restaurant Week Wailea from Sunday, Nov. 4 to Saturday, Nov. 10 at various Wailea venues. This is your semi-annual chance to get prix-fixe meal deals throughout the resort for $29, $39 and $49.
"This is the first time we'll have 18 resort restaurants participate!" says Kathy Costello, director of marketing for Wailea Community Association. "The two newest restaurants joining in are Manoli's and Alan Wong's Amasia."

Open Table Reservations, the nationwide booking service used by 350 million diners, recently revealed that the Leis Class Act Restaurant run by the UH Maui College's Maui Culinary Academy was rated as number one on their list of "Best Overall Restaurants Hawaii."
