The multiagency exercise re-created the scene of an airliner crash and gave Maui responders a chance to work together while learning firsthand what to expect in the wake of a disaster. With volunteer victims' screams for help mixing with the smell of burned jet fuel in the air, the responders performed triage, selecting who needed immediate attention and who was too badly hurt to wait.
