As I read The Maui News and the letters about cane smoke, I think the following thoughts.
People who want to ban burning: Where are your solutions after the burning stops? How will you get new jobs for the 800 workers? What do you do with the factory that shut down? Now that the cane is gone and the fields have turned to dust, causing more poor air quality, how do you solve the new challenge?
It is your right to complain about just about anything, that is the right of America. The heart of being an American is how the we solve the problem. Before you jump to stop the burn, have answers ready.
