Vote no on the proposed amendment that would create a county auditor. Our Charter Commission needs to revisit the structure and context of this proposal.
It seems to me that it is just another level of government bureaucracy that, in the end, wouldn't create efficiency and would result in making it harder for the county to do business.
The Charter Commission also tries to spin it that this would be an independent position, but within the wording of the amendment, it clearly states that not only does the council have oversight responsibilities but the mayor does as well.
Back to the drawing board.
