Conference honors Ane for second straight week
University of New Haven sophomore Kaulana Ane, a Kamehameha Schools Maui graduate, received the Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball setter of the week award for a second consecutive time after play of Oct. 9-15, averaging 11.2 assists and 2.4 digs per set in three matches, all wins.
Ane had 36 assists and seven digs in a sweep of Assumption on Oct. 9, 50 assists and 11 digs in a five-set win over Bridgeport on Oct. 11 and 37 assists, eight digs and three kills with a hitting percentage of .500 in an Oct. 13 sweep of Massachusetts-Lowell.
This season, Ane is averaging 11.0 assists per set for the Chargers (18-1, 9-0 Northeast-10), best in the conference and 16th in NCAA Division II, plus 2.2 digs. She has 63 kills and a .258 hitting percentage.

Wailea places fourth at national tennis tourney
A team representing Wailea Tennis Club placed fourth in last weekend's USTA Junior Team 14-and-Under Advanced National Championships in Cayce, S.C.
The team of Joey Baldwin, Haumea Velasco, Jessica Leigh Pressman, Shayan Shirkhodai, Kylee K. Kato, Sarah Ikioka, Shayla Hoeft and Jaylee Lagumen Yasunaga went 3-0 in flight play, then lost to ATA Dream Team of Austin, Texas, the eventual national champion, before falling to a team from Virginia Beach, Va.

Upcountry Little League registration on Nov. 3
Registration for Upcountry Little League's 2013 season is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 3 at Eddie Tam Gym in Makawao.
The fee for tee-ball/coach pitch players - ages 4-8 - is $75 per player, and the fee for all other divisions is $95 per player. A $5 discount is available for siblings.
A birth certificate copy is necessary for all players who do not have one on file with the league.
Forms will be available at Pukalani Superette after Nov. 3.
Volunteers are also needed for coaching, umpiring, scorekeeping, concession work and to serve as team parents. A current, valid driver's license or Hawaii state identification is required for volunteers, who will also undergo a background check.
