Golf for Maui Charities program seeking nonprofit participants

October 17, 2012
The Maui News

Maui nonprofit organizations will have the opportunity to participate in the Golf for Maui Charities program in conjunction with the Hyundai Tournament of Champions tournament happening Jan. 3 to 7 at the Plantation Course in Kapalua.

This initiative gives nonprofit organizations the opportunity to promote ticket sales to this year's tournament, with 100 percent of the net proceeds going back to their charity.

"The Golf for Maui Charities program was a resounding success in its first year in 2012, and we're thrilled to bring the program back in advance of the 2013 Hyundai Tournament of Champions," said Nancy Cross, executive director of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. "The tournament and its host organizations have a tremendous history of charitable giving, and the Golf for Maui Charities program provides a unique opportunity for local nonprofits to generate much-needed funds."

The tickets available through Golf for Maui Charities are the weekly grounds ticket for $40, good for all competitive rounds of the event; and a one-day grounds ticket for $15, good for any one day of the tournament.

"We raised $6,600 and want to thank the Hyundai Tournament of Champions for providing us with this generous and empowering fundraising opportunity," said Victoria Caputo, president of Sacred Hearts Advisory Board of Maria Lanakila Parish. "We found that tickets were easy to sell, and we had fun in the process. This has been a great boost to our year-round development efforts on behalf of our parishioners and students."
