MIL volleyball: Hana remains atop D-II standings

The Hana High School girls volleyball team defeated Lanai for the second time in two nights on Saturday in Lanai City, and maintained a half-game lead in the Maui Interscholastic League Division II standings.

The Dragons (8-1) won 25-21, 25-20, 25-14.

Hana's Pakalana Helekahi-Cass had seven kills and one block, and Brandy Lecker-Tolentino added five kills and two blocks.

Norlyn Cabonce had 10 digs and eight assists for the Pine Lasses (1-7). Nalani Plunkett added four kills and five digs.

SEABURY HALL 3, MOLOKAI 0: At Hoolehua, Seabury Hall won 25-18, 25-18, 25-21 to complete a two-day, six-set sweep and extend its winning streak to five.

If a playoff match is needed to determine a regular-season champion, it will be played Oct. 22 at Erdman Athletic Center.

Molokai fell to 4-4 after opening the season with four straight wins.

KAMEHAMEHA MAUI 3, BALDWIN 0: At Wailuku, Kamehameha Maui remained unbeaten this year and won for the 63rd time in its last 64 MIL matches, 25-7, 25-17, 26-24.

Leimana Kane had 13 kills and Sienna Davis had 11 for the Warriors (10-0), who have won the league's last eight overall Division I championships, and clinched this year's regular-season title on Thursday. Bobbi-Lin Kalama had 20 assists and Kailee Tabaco added seven, while Iwalani Kaaa recorded nine digs, and Taylor Awai, Emma Yen and Anuhea Kaiaokamalie contributed five apiece.

Olivia Wallace had nine kills, three digs and two aces for the Bears (4-6), and Pele Buika six kills and three digs. Mea Stout had 14 digs, Gabby Cordoba had five kills and three digs, Taylor Badois had four kills and Kisaea Tasini had three aces. Tulu Tulenkun had 11 assists, and Daisy Rano had seven.
