Kula Hospital is asking the public to vote for its entry into this year's Pink Glove Dance Competition video challenge, which aims to raise awareness of breast cancer.
The contest is sponsored by Medline Industries, which produced the original Pink Glove Dance Video three years ago, its website said. October is breast cancer awareness month. The deadline to vote is Oct. 26.
The grand prize in the contest is $10,000, Kula Hospital officials said. There are also various runner-up prizes.
If the hospital wins, it said, it will donate the funds to Hui No Ke Ola Pono, a Wailuku-based nonprofit that provides education, screenings and mammographies to uninsured and underinsured women, a release said.
Kula Hospital chose the song "This One's for The Girls" by Martina McBride for its video.
Organizers said that in their video they tried to show how, like the circle of the lei, people are all connected in work, play and life.
The video features hospital staff along with other community organizations as well as breast cancer survivors.
