Elsie Y. Ting, formerly of Kihei, passed away in Wailuku, under the care of her caregivers and Hospice Maui, on September 20, 2012.
Elsie was born on February 1, 1921 in Wailuku. She was the last surviving descendant born to parents Shinzo and Shizu Yonemura. She was predeceased by brothers Takeshi, Satoshi, and Teruo; and sisters Tomoe Button, and Masako Watanabe.
She was a homemaker who, along with her husband, founded Ting's Enterprises, Ltd. and David P. Ting and Sons, Inc. She enjoyed reading, singing, gardening-tending to her orchids and anthurium plants. She also enjoyed her "pilgrimages" to Las Vegas.
Elsie's husband, David P. Ting, Sr. passed away in 1997. She is survived by sons David P. (Anna) Ting, Jr., Duane P. (Annette) Ting, Dennis P. Ting, Darryl P. (Cynthia) Ting; 11 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
Private funeral services and burial were held. Nakamura Mortuary assisted with arrangements. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
