Following the fiasco in the NFL officials situation and a poignant magazine article regarding veteran referee Ed Hochuli, I am reminded of how fortunate we are to have the Honorable Judge Joe Cardoza as the dean of football officials here on Maui.
Judge Cardoza for years has been an astute, concise and articulate referee for high school and youth football here on the Valley Isle. He is an official who always has complete control over the games he works and does so in an honorable and knowledgeable manner, the same way he presides over his Maui courtroom. He is a blessing in many ways and truly represents the integrity of the Valley Isle, and we are all fortunate that he is here for the betterment of all the people.
