1912 - The new school at Hana will be a four-room one, and it is hoped it will be finished soon. The new Hana School will stand in grounds that cover four acres. The site is an ideal one for a school and the view from the place is a magnificent one.

1937 - One of the features of the 20th Maui County Fair and a sight rarely seen on Maui will be an airplane stunting over the fairgrounds. P.I. Gunn, during his 30 minute exhibition, will demonstrate loops, rolls slow and snap, splits, vertical rolls, falling leaf and cartwheels.
50 Years Ago
1962 - Among the several organizations which participated in the opening day parade of the 40th Maui County Fair was the Portuguese group, which was selected as "the best" organization. Dressed in their colorful native costumes, the participants were led by A.C. Franco.
25 Years Ago
1987 - Only a year ago, when Alexander & Baldwin tried to transfer the fair to another location, 45 members of the community testified at a County Council meeting in favor of keeping the present fairgrounds. Fortunately the Council agreed. This week you can attend yet another Maui County Fair in the place it's called home for 69 years.
10 Years Ago
2002 - The mother-son team of Linda and Grelyn Rosario, who already owned five McDonald's restaurants in Central and Upcountry Maui, have purchased three more on the west side. It is said they are cooking up a McDynasty on Maui.
