Sugimura aces No. 16 at Maui Country Club
Jerry Sugimura of Wailuku recorded a hole-in-one at Maui Country Club in Spreckelsville on Sept. 19.
Sugimura aced the 105-yard 16th hole, using an 8-iron. The shot was witnessed by Ted Kanamori, Junior Moniz, Steve Tsuzaki, Richard Komo and Don Ito.

Stock car racing set for Saturday in Puunene
Stock car racing is scheduled for Saturday at Paradise Speedway Maui in Puunene.
Gates will open at 3:30 p.m., and time trials are to start at
6 p.m.
Spectator admission is $10 for anyone 13 and over, $2 for youths 6-12 and free for youths 5 and under.

Youth basketball league registration next month
Registration for a West Maui Parks and Recreation youth basketball league, for boys and girls in kindergarten through 8th grade, will take place from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 5 at the Lahaina Civic Center.
Practices will start in December, and games will begin on Jan. 5.
