* GOLF

Monday-Monday is the deadline to enter the 39th annual Lester Hamai Memorial Women's Golf Tournament, scheduled for Oct. 13 at Maui Country Club, with a 7 a.m. shotgun start. Maui women golfers at least 18 years old with a GHIN handicap of no more than 36 as of Monday are eligible. The entry fee is $80, which will also pay for use of a cart, lunch and entry into contests. The field is limited to 72 players. Entry forms are available at most Maui pro shops. Proceeds will benefit the Boy Scouts of America Maui County Council. Contact: Dot Tam Ho, 877-5433 or 298-2258.

Saturday-The Maui High Foundation's benefit golf tournament is scheduled for Saturday at Kahili Golf Course, with a 7 a.m. shotgun start. Entry forms for the four-person scramble are available at the school's main office, and can be downloaded at mauihigh.org. Contact: Alan Manibog, 268-0876.

Oct. 17-18-The Beyond the Rainbow Foundation's free Aloha Team Classic Pro-Am Clinic is scheduled for 3-5 p.m. on Oct. 17 at the Kaanapali Golf Courses. Spots are available for 30 youths ages 10-18 to play three holes with an LPGA player. Instruction will also be offered to youths ages 5-9. Registration to play with an LPGA golfer will begin on Tuesday. Registration can be completed by emailing info@AlohaTeamClassic.org or calling 665-5815. All registrations must include the junior golfer's name and age, name of a parent or guardian, a telephone number and an email address. Youths playing with the LPGA golfers will need need to bring their own clubs and be accompanied by an adult. Spots are also available for a pro-am on Oct. 18. Amateur golfers interested in playing should contact the foundation for pricing and registration via the same email address and phone number used for the youth event.

Saturday-The Wiki Wiki 5K Run and Walk and 10K Run are scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. All events will start and end at The Vitamin Shoppe at Lahaina Gateway Center. Advance registration costs $30 - or $25 for Valley Isle Road Runners members, Vitamin Shoppe Healthy Awards Club members and anyone who will be 17 or younger on race day - and can be completed at flpregister.com/24, or from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Vitamin Shoppe on Friday. Race-day registration will be $35 for all participants, and will start one hour before the events begin. Saturday-The eighth annual Cooney Surf Contest is scheduled for 7 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday at Hookipa Beach Park. The event will have nine divisions, covering all ages. The entry fee is $25, which also pays for lunch and a T-shirt. Contact: 264-3112.

Today-The Wailea 4.5 Women tennis team will conduct a round-robin tournament, silent auction and dinner today at the Wailea Tennis Club to raise funds for its trip to next month's USTA national tournament in Tucson, Ariz. The fundraising tournament is scheduled for 3-6 p.m., and the auction and dinner for 6-7:30 p.m. The fee is $20.
