Rainbow Wahine survive scare from Titans

FULLERTON, Calif. - Emily Hartong had 21 kills and Jane Croson added 16 as the seventh-ranked University of Hawaii women's volleyball team avoided an upset by Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, getting by the Titans in five sets.

After winning the first two sets by wide margins, the Rainbow Wahine dropped the next two in extra play before pulling out the 25-12, 25-15, 26-28, 25-27, 15-12 win.

Croson hit just .156 for the match but also had 16 digs, and Hartong added nine digs and four blocks for UH (10-2, 3-0 Big West). Molokai High School graduate Kalei Adolpho had five kills, three digs and a team-high six block assists, and Kamehameha Maui graduate Ginger Long added a dig.

Kayla Neto and Bre Moreland led Fullerton (6-9, 0-2) with 14 kills apiece, and Leah Best had seven blocks - three solo - as the Titans won the battle at the net 15-11.
