ILWU, Hawaii Carpenters support Ing

Democratic South Maui House candidate Kaniela Ing has been endorsed by the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 142 and the Hawaii Carpenters Union Local 745, according to an announcement from the candidate.

The ILWU and Hawaii Carpenters represent 22,000 and 5,900 employees, respectively, across the state, the announcement said.

Ing is facing incumbent Republican Rep. George Fontaine for the 11th House seat.

Guzman gains support in bid for council

Don Guzman, who is running for the Maui County Council Kahului residency seat, has received the endorsement of the Hawaii Building & Construction Trades Council, AFL-CIO.

The council's membership includes Hawaii's various construction trade unions and has more than 15,000 members statewide.
