Those attending the Maui Academy of Performing Arts annual fundraiser, the Garden Party, are in for a real treat this year.
"For the first time, Kapalua Spa will be providing complimentary spa services at the event, including massages, 'hand facials' and a variety of make-up treatments," says Adam Burke, MAPA's director of operations and marketing. "And yes, they're offering a variety of 'guy friendly' treatments so it's not just for the ladies!"
The Garden Party will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9 (see story, above). So now, you may want to pack your swim gear in addition to wearing your favorite hat.

"At our spa teasers booth, we will have a Beer Bath demonstration corner with the beer exfoliation, the beer bread and the beer drink. We also will have Ola Spa products all made with Hawaiian ingredients of fruits and flowers," says Cecilia Hercik, Spa Kapalua's regional director of operations.
"Long known as a specialty of the famous beer countries like Germany, Austria and Czech Republic, beer baths have been used as a curative, medicinal treatment in addition to a relaxing and detoxifying experience for the body."
The procedure reportedly has curative effects on the complexion and hair and is known to relieve muscle tension, warm up joints and infuses the body with beer goodness. Kapalua Spa's own twist on the treatment is Maui Brewing Co.'s handcrafted products with the distinctive aromas of hops and malt. Foam rises from the bottom much like a giant mug of beer.
