Keauhou Beach Hotel to be closed
HONOLULU - More than 100 people will soon lose their jobs after a decision by Kamehameha Schools to close the Keauhou Beach Hotel on the Big Island.
Kamehameha Schools CEO Dee Jay Mailer met with most of the hotel's 112 employees Wednesday morning to tell them of plans to close the hotel in October.
Mailer noted financial losses at the hotel over the last six years that he described as "substantial." A news release said the hotel would be demolished.
The hotel is managed by Outrigger Hotels.
