LAHAINA - Those wanting to purchase a personalized brick for the Pioneer Mill Co. Smokestack commemorative walkway's upcoming installation must do so by Monday.
The event is part of the Lahaina Restoration Foundation's Buy-A-Brick fundraiser to help fund the cost of the recent restoration of the smokestack, installation of the brick walkway, interpretive plaque display and other improvements to the site.
Since June 2009, the community has purchased more than 1,000 personalized bricks.
Brick options range from $125 to $750. This fifth installation phase will be completed prior to the annual Lahaina Plantation Days event Oct. 18 to 20.
The foundation is also offering a "By One Get One Free" brick promotion in honor of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Lahaina Restoration Foundation. If one prefers only one brick, the other free brick will be named in honor of a former millworker. This offer ends Dec. 31.
