HONOLULU (AP) - The Hawaii State Judiciary will be mailing juror questionnaires to residents statewide.
Beginning today, about 235,000 juror questionnaires will be sent to residents who have Hawaii driver's licenses and are registered to vote in the state.
The questionnaires help select those who will be eligible to serve as jurors next year. The questionnaires must be completed and returned within 10 days. Anyone who doesn't respond may be penalized.
The Judiciary says that this year a new form will be included that's required for those who claim a permanent disability that prohibits them from jury service. One section of the form needs to be completed by a doctor or physician's assistant.
Those eligible for jury duty must be at least 18 years old, U.S. citizens, and able to read and understand English.
