Ichiro Toba, 96 of Kahului, passed away on July 24, 2012 at Hale Makua in Kahului. He was born on March 22, 1916 in Puunene.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Kahului Union Church, services will begin at 10:30 a.m., cremation to follow. Family requests no flowers.
Ballard Family Mortuary is assisting with the arrangements.
Ichiro was employed with Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company, East Maui Irrigation, Kahului Development Company, and retired as Maui County's Land Surveyor.
He is survived by his daughter, Joyce (Neil) Watanabe; sons, Bert (Margaret) Toba, Morris Toba, and Rodney (Terry) Toba; brothers, Jiro Toba, Shiro (Shinobu) Toba, Goro Toba, James (Katherine) Toba, and Dr. Harold (Matsuko) Toba; sisters, Jane Saikami, Patsy (Pat) Kaya, and Sally (Hiro) Murakami; sister-in-law, Evelyn Toba; and 7 grandchildren.
Ichiro was predeceased by his wife, Hisako Toba; parents, Jinsaburo & Haru Toba; brothers, Saburo, Rokuro, and Richard Toba; and sister, Lillian Matsui.
