Friday Night Services in Kula
KULA - Waipuna Chapel will debut Friday Night Services on Aug. 10, starting at 7 p.m.
There will be Bible teaching, worship music, children's ministry through grade 5 and an "afterglow" time and fellowship around a coffee and snack bar and informal music.
Pastor Shaun Waite will begin a five-part Bible teaching series called The Fading - Rediscovering Virtues (gratitude, purity, honor and loyalty).

Wailuku Hongwanji obon set
WAILUKU - The Wailuku Hongwanji Mission will hold its annual obon event Aug. 10 and 11 on the temple grounds.
Each evening, obon will begin with a Hatsubon service starting at 6:50 p.m. to honor those members of Wailuku Hongwanji who have died in the past year. The Rev. Shinkai Murakami will deliver the Hatsubon sermon at the services.
The obon dance will begin at 8 p.m. each night. In addition to the dancing, there will be food items for sale prepared by Cub Pack 40, Scout Troop 40 and the Judo Club.
Games for children will be offered by the Dharma School.
The work of Wailuku Hongwanji's many affiliate organizations will be showcased in the social hall.

DVD Bible study series to start
KAHULUI - The Kahului Seventh-day Adventist Church will begin a new DVD Bible study series, titled "The Eleventh Hour," by Pastor David Aserick, from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday.
The 15-week study will touch on subjects from creation to the cross and the prophecy found in Daniel and Revelations.
The first presentation is titled "Pascal's Wager."
Kahului Seventh-day Adventist Church is located at 261 S. Puunene Ave., on the corner of Puunene and Wakea avenues. Entry is on Wakea Avenue.

Chorus to sing on Sunday
WAILUKU - Maui's Masterworks Chorus will sing at the primary service of the Holy Eucharist at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
The chorus is under the direction of Robert E. Wills and will sing works by Franz Josef Haydn, Healy Willan and John Rutter.
The service will conclude with the rousing spiritual "Ain't Got Time to Die," arranged by Hall Johnson.
The public is invited.
