Sierra Club, trades council support Ing

KIHEI - Kaniela Ing, who is seeking the South Maui state House seat, has been endorsed by the Hawai'i Building and Construction Trades Council and the Sierra Club of Hawaii.

The membership of the trades council includes Hawaii's assorted construction trade unions.

As a result of the endorsement, Ing garnered the backing of Painters Local 1791, Plumbers Local 675 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1168.

The Hawaii Chapter of the Sierra Club is an environmental group with 12,000 members and supporters statewide.

Ing, a Democrat, is seeking his party's nomination in the primary election in the race for the 11th District state House seat, held by Republican incumbent George Fontaine.
