Whether you are a true Francophile or just love French cuisine, you will want to check out Bastille Day at Gerard's in Lahaina.
The celebration will take place on the national holiday, which celebrates the beginning of the French revolution. Doors will open for dinner at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 14. You may sit outdoors on the verandah at the restaurant's Plantation Inn location or dine indoors in air-conditioned comfort in the main dining room.
The best news for kamaaina is, if you show valid Hawaii ID, you get 50 percent off of your entrees throughout the evening.

Gerard's is famous for its fresh catch such as ono or mahimahi along with fresh snapper. He just calls fishermen and asks them to bring in more fresh catch when he runs out and they gladly oblige.
His fresh Markea prawns on pasta with truffle butter is drizzled with hazelnut oil, and topped with creme fraiche and Reggiano parmesan cheese. Duck confit and rack of lamb are also top sellers.
He's been featuring some incredible Berkshire pork from Peahi on Maui's North Shore in a variety of preparations such as fromage de tete.
"I met this young couple, Lehua and David Fitch from Malama Farms in Peahi, and I bought the whole pig from them," said Gerard. "So we're featuring charcuterie items such as this rillettes de pork, which is shredded pork spread served with cornichons and toast."
