Kitamura named to WAC first team

MESA, Ariz. - University of Hawaii shortstop Piikea Kitamura was named to the Western Athletic Conference baseball first team on Tuesday.

Kitamura batted .315 this season - .308 with 12 RBIs in 18 conference games.

The Rainbows had three players named to the second team - pitcher Matt Sisto (8-3, 3-0 in WAC play), outfielder Zack Swasey (team-best 10 doubles overall in the regular season) and third baseman Collin Bennett (team-leading .326 overall average).

Sacramento State second baseman Andrew Ayers was named WAC player of the year, and Nevada's Bradey Shipley was named pitcher of the year.

Hawaii will face Fresno State in a WAC tournament game today.
