Couch birthday celebration planned

WAILUKU - Maui County Council Member Don Couch will hold a birthday celebration for his re-election campaign Wednesday at the Maui Tropical Plantation.

The event, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., will feature dinner, entertainment by Uncle Richard Ho'opi'i and door prizes. The suggested donation is $10.

Couch is seeking re-election to the council's South Maui residency seat.

Lingle 'Birthday Bash' set for June 5

WAILEA - In celebration of her 59th birthday, former Gov. Linda Lingle will be honored by supporters at a "Birthday Bash" from 6 to 8 p.m. June 5 at the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa.

There will be birthday events statewide to support Lingle's campaign to capture the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by the retiring Sen. Daniel Akaka.

Obama celebration to be held June 2

KIHEI - A "Celebration of Women for Obama" will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. June 2 at the Kalama Heights Retirement Residence Garden Room at 101 Kanani St. in Kihei.

The event will focus on President Barack Obama's commitment to and accomplishments for women, an announcement said.

It is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
