Bill Burton of Sir Wilfred's coffee and tobacco shop in Lahaina has been around the block long enough to know what it takes to pair world-class jazz and blues with fabulous food.
So he's presenting his second annual Front Street Jazz and Blues Walk in Lahaina. For those of you who did it last year, you know it's like a self-guided pub crawl, as you choose where you want to stop.
"Friday through Sunday, we're bringing in popular jazz and blues artists at eight participating Lahaina restaurants and most will be free to the public," says Burton, founding president of the Maui Jazz Society.

"The idea will be for people to buy drinks and food and enjoy the shows. Have a pupu here, a drink there. Take a stroll down Front Street and enjoy musicians. The 2012 event is also in conjunction with Lahaina's second Friday event, making for even more fun."
Participating restaurants include Pioneer Inn, Longhi's, Hard Rock Cafe, Captain Jack's, Blue Lagoon, Kimo's, David Paul's Island Grill and MauiGrown Coffee Company. In addition, Campbell Park and Banyan Tree Park will also provide venues. Details on the music lineups are in Jon Woodhouse's story on Page 3 and in the calendar on Page 12. On Friday at David Paul's, savor an international array of wines and cheeses in the Sky Lounge from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at $25 per person. Meet artist Cecilia Bahena and listen to live jazz, too. Happy hour and a la carte menus are also available at that time.
Check out Longhi's' lineup from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and you may order the special four-course menu for $39.99 per person. Crunch Greek or Longhi salad, savor pasta Pomodoro or fettucini Alfredo; try entrees such as New York steak, chicken Marsala, shrimp Longhi, ahi torino or eggplant parmesan; and top it all off with housemade tiramisu.
The Pioneer Inn will serve its regular menu Friday and Saturday in the courtyard with popular items such as daily catch, seafood scampi served over pasta, and fish and chips. Or opt for the prime rib special served with baked potato and fresh vegetables.
At Hard Rock Cafe, you'll find several new menu items, such as the Texan: custom-smoked fresh pork, hand-pulled, tender and juicy with chipotle and hickory barbecue sauce, cheddar cheese, crispy jalapenos and crispy onions. It's served with a side of seasoned fries, ranch beans and fresh coleslaw. Other new Hard Rock Cafe dishes are the SmokeHouse chop salad and the Shock Top Beer-battered fish and chips.
