Bernice D. Tabbal, 80, of Wailuku, Maui, passed away on April 3, 2012, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. She was born on September 14, 1931 on Oahu, Hawaii.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Ballard Family Mortuary; prayer service begins at 11:00 a.m.; entombment will follow, 12:30 p.m. at Maui Memorial Park Cemetery in Wailuku. The family requests casual attire.
Bernice was a member of Kamaaina families that settled on Maui in the late 1870's and early 1880's. She was one of the first employees of the Sheraton Maui Hotel, who worked as a Telephone Operator, and later, retired as a Realtor. She was a graduate of Sacred Hearts Academy in Honolulu, a member of the Maui Portuguese Cultural Club, a folk dancer & singer on Maui, a member of the Quilters Guild, and a chaperone for her son's athletic teams. She is survived by her son, David C. Gomes Jr. (Kehau).
