HONOLULU - Lawrence Chen earned his first win in a starting role, and Stephen Ventimilia recorded three hits as the University of Hawaii baseball team beat UC Davis 7-1 in their series finale Sunday at Les Murakami Stadium.
Chen (2-1) surrendered one unearned run and allowed just two hits in six innings before Kyle Dowdy came in and collected the three-inning save.
The Rainbows (17-12), who won the series 3-1, turned three double plays.
Piikea Kitamura went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs, and Billy Nottingham added two runs scored for UH. Kitamura batted .467 for the series to lead all hitters.
UC Davis (11-13) used five pitchers, with starter Evan Wolf (0-2) taking the loss. He pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on three hits with five strikeouts.
Ryan Allgrove and Paul Politi recorded the two hits for the Aggies.
The Rainbows next host Fresno State to open Western Athletic Conference play. The three-game series - which features last season's co-WAC regular-season champions - begins Thursday.
