KAHULUI - A handful of Apple addicts on Maui lined up Friday for the brand's latest iPad.

Travis Ochoa, electronics department manager at Walmart in Kahului, said around a dozen customers were waiting in line when the store opened at 6 a.m. Friday.

"We're sold out," he said, adding that he wasn't sure when the store would get more of the the coveted third edition of Apple's tablet computer.

A line of 10 to 12 people waited outside MacNet in Kahului on Friday morning, Assistant Manager Jason Takaki, with a "constant stream" of hopeful customers throughout the day.

But he said the crowd was disappointed when it learned the store would not have the product available until early next week.

Only official Apple and Walmart stores had access to the latest iPad on its release date, Takaki noted, adding that there was a lot of anticipation for the tablet among die-hard Apple customers.

"It's a great product, that's for sure," he said. "I want one myself."
