Warriors fall to Cougars in marathon five-setter

HONOLULU - The University of Hawaii men's volleyball team fought back from two sets down, winning a marathon fourth, before losing 25-23, 25-23, 23-25, 34-36, 15-12 to Brigham Young on Friday at the Stan Sheriff Center in a match that took 3 hours, 5 minutes.

Steven Hunt had 24 kills for the Warriors (7-13, 4-11 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation).

Taylor Sander had 23 kills for the Cougars (16-4, 12-3).

The Warriors fought back from a 24-21 deficit in the fourth set, and also fended off match point at 26-25, then had eight set points of their own before coming through.

The teams are to play again today.
