Ground broken for new chapel in Lahaina
LAHAINA - Ground was broken for a new Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Lahaina Chapel on Feb. 23.
Located at 85 Ulupono St., the 21,000-square-foot chapel will meet the needs of a growing membership of two wards and will replace the present chapel on Malo Street, a news release about the ground breaking said.

English-speaking and Tongan congregations will meet in the new facility.
The chapel is expected to be completed in December. Layton Construction Co. from Utah is the builder.
Following the groundbreaking, a large Tongan feast was held.

WAILUKU - Sant Baljit Singh will give a presentation on meditation through light and sound at Unity Church of Maui on March 10, beginning at 7 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.

Six nights of Dharma Dialogues planned
Catherine Ingram will lead six nights of Dharma Dialogues on Maui this month.
She is the author of "In the Footsteps of Gandhi," "Passionate Presence" and "A Crack in Everything." Her sessions "are a context in which we look at life experiences - work, creativity, romance, parenting, service, disappointment, loss and death - through the lens of understanding," according to a news release about her talks.
Dharma Dialogues will be held at Lumeria Maui, 1813 Baldwin Ave., 7:30 to 9 p.m., on March 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28.
A donation of $15 to $20 per evening is requested. Anyone 25 years or younger may attend for free.
