Maui Crafts Guild will feature the work of contemporary fresco painting and mixed media artist Diane La Fontaine starting Friday through March 22.
Meet the artist at a free, public reception with live music and refreshments on opening night from 6:30 to 9 at the gallery, 69 Hana Highway. The celebration is being held in conjunction with Maui Friday Town Party in Paia.
La Fontaine studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Students League in New York City before making Maui her home. The artist has a "unique process of using layers of acrylic paints, pastels and metals in combination on wood or paper that create a delicate surface with a fresco-like appearance," according to a release.
