HONOLULU - A wild pitch by the University of Hawaii baseball team's Patrick O'Rourke in the top of the 12th inning allowed Aaron Payne to score, and Oregon won 3-2 on Saturday at Les Murakami Stadium.
The Rainbows (1-1) took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, helped by two errors by the Ducks (1-1).
Collin Bennett was 2-for-6 for UH, with a run and RBI. Pi'ikea Kitamura was 2-for-4.
Rainbows starting pitcher Jarett Arakawa allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings.
Jimmie Sherfy earned the win, striking out 13 batters in 5 2/3 scoreless innings of relief. He allowed just two hits.
The teams will meet again today and Monday.
