UH falls to UC Irvine in three sets

HONOLULU - The University of Hawaii men's volleyball team were swept by second-ranked UC Irvine on Sunday at the Stan Sheriff Center, suffering its second loss to the Anteaters in three days.

Steven Hunt had a team-high eight kills but also had nine errors to hit minus-.032 as the No. 12 Warriors lost 25-17, 25-19, 25-21. On Thursday, UH lost in four sets.

As a team, the Warriors (6-7, 3-5 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) hit just .130 compared to .365 for the Anteaters (9-2, 5-2).

Carson Clark had 10 kills and three aces, and Kevin Tillie had 10 kills for UC Irvine. Dan McDonnell added seven kills, three aces and three blocks.

The Warriors next host UCLA on Friday and Saturday. The teams played earlier this season in the Outrigger Hotels Volleyball Invitational, with the Bruins winning in three sets.
