Gannon’s ‘gives back’ to protect whales

January 26, 2012
The Maui News

Gannon's, A Pacific View Restaurant in Wailea has joined forces with Pacific Whale Foundation to help protect Hawaii's ocean environment through a charitable giving program.

Called "Gannon's Gives Back," the program will help to fund the nonprofit organization's scientific, educational and advocacy programs that protect our oceans and its inhabitants.

How does it work? you ask. Gannon's will donate $5 to Pacific Whale Foundation for every person that turns in an eco-adventure cruise ticket while dining at the restaurant for lunch or dinner.

The partnership "just makes good sense because we all depend on and want to protect one of the most valuable resources we have in Hawaii," says Beverly Gannon, chef- owner. "The responsible stewardship of our land and ocean resources is vital to sustain our fragile environment while allowing everyone to enjoy Hawaii's bounty."

One of the founding chef members of the Hawaii Regional Cuisine movement, Gannon serves menu items such as miso-glazed walu, braised short ribs, and fennel-chili crusted ahi.
