Turnovers hurt UH in loss to Florida Gulf Coast

HONOLULU - The University of Hawaii women's basketball team committed 17 turnovers and went just 11-for-21 on free throws in a 72-52 loss to Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday in a Rainbow Wahine Invitational game at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Eagles (9-2) scored the final 10 points of the first half for a 37-27 lead, and remained in front the rest of the way.

Vicky Tagalicod scored 14 points for UH (5-9), which had won four of its previous five games. Kamilah Jackson had 10 points and 12 rebounds, and Kalei Adolpho of Molokai had eight points and six rebounds.

Nicoya Jackson scored 19 points for Florida Gulf Coast, and Sarah Hansen had 15.

Hawaii will play today against North Carolina State, which beat Alcorn State 85-70 on Thursday.
