HONOLULU - The University of Hawaii announced Monday night that it has received 30 applications for its vacant head football coaching position, and that the school's search committee would start reviewing the candidates.
The Warriors are looking for a replacement for Greg McMackin, who announced his retirement last Monday after four seasons as head coach. Longtime assistant Rich Miano was named interim coach.
Hawaii went 6-7 this season, missing out on a bowl game for the second time in McMackin's tenure. Under McMackin, the Warriors were 0-2 in the postseason.
UH athletic director Jim Donovan has not indicated when a coach will be selected.
