Maui Humane Society will be barking up the right tree Saturday with its second annual Barktoberfest on the grounds of the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa in Kaanapali.
"It will be a fabulous evening under the stars on the Sheraton's Ocean Lawn with great grinds, tasty beer from Maui Brewing Company, and an awesome lineup of live music," says Lindsey Nicolas, director of development and community outreach for the Maui Humane Society.
"Entertainers include Ahumanu, Lisa Owen and the Village Musicians, Gerit Williams, Sebrina Barron, and Maui's favorite jam band, Haiku Hillbillys! MHS will have a keiki activity tent for kids of all ages to enjoy with games, crafts and other fun activities and the Sheraton's culinary staff will be cooking up delish gourmet German as well as island grinds to tantalize the palate."

The full buffet will be served from 5:30 to 7 p.m. It will feature warm German-potato salad, braised red cabbage in red-wine reduction and spaetzle tossed in herb-olive oil.
Other highlights are stuffed-chicken Cordon bleu with smoked Gouda and shaved-island pipikaula, fresh catch dynamite, panko-crusted crab rolls, veggie kabobs, bratwurst and knockwurst and sauerkraut with assorted condiments. Desserts include fire-roasted Fuji apple strudel and soft pretzels.
Cost is $85 for adults and $30 for children ages 7 to 15.
Adoptable pets will not be in attendance, although this event is for them.
"All of the Barktoberfest proceeds will provide safe and nurturing shelter, food, and veterinary care for animals in need, reunite lost pets with their families, and help the orphans find their loving, forever homes," says Nicolas.
Don't want the buffet? General admission tickets (from 7 to 10 p.m.) are $25 for adults and $10 for children (ages 7-15) and food and beverage will be available for purchase; keiki 6 years and younger will get in free.
The public may purchase tickets at MHS or West Maui Pet Supply. Or you may visit the website at www.MauiHumaneSociety.org, or call 877-3680, ext. 32.
