For the past 2-1/2 years, Maui sculptor and artist Dale Zarrella has drawn the attention of curious visitors and residents alike in Wailea as he created "The Wailea Mermaid with 110 Baby Turtles" from a single piece of a monkeypod tree.
Today at 6 p.m. in the lobby of the Grand Wailea, the sculpture will be unveiled, the third of the Wailea Mermaid Series. A public reception will follow in the hotel's Napua Gallery. For more information, call the gallery at 874-0510.
