Most people know Uncle Louie's Sausage Co. for its Portuguese, Italian, Sweet Maui Onion and Pineapple-Flavored links.
Now it's on a roll with Simply Cheap Eats inside its factory behind the Broke Da Mouth Cookie Co. on Alamaha Street in Kahului. You'll find a laulau plate for $5 that comes with containers of poi and salted cabbage along with rice and haupia.
Other "hobo" versions of just laulau, chili and rice, spaghetti with Italian sausage, and hamburger steak sell for only $3 each.
Owner Ken Enriques says most customers are walk-ins during regular operating hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.

"Customers ask us, how can you sell it all for so cheap?" says Enriques. "I tell them, we bring in at least 20,000 pounds of raw meat per month, so we can process our sausages, and we like to pass on the savings to you."
In addition, Enriques tries to incorporate as many island products and ingredients as he can. In his chili, for instance, he puts his own Portuguese sausage and island beef into the mix. His Italian sausage is used to spice up spaghetti sauce.
"We've been in business about 25 years," Enriques says. "Then, about a year ago, we started making chili at affordable prices so people could buy it for their fundraisers. Then we introduced laulau plates and hamburger steaks. I must say, our sales in this market are growing rapidly."
Besides the chili being good for fundraisers, the rest of the food is popular for take out.
"You can come in and buy it if you're having a party. It's nothing fancy, but it's cheap. Most of our customers just walk in."
If you want to go even lower in price, you'll find hamburgers, cheeseburgers and chili dogs as well as hot dogs and hot dog combos with chips and soda - all for under $2.50.
