Israeli rabbi to discuss Kabbalah

KIHEI - Rabbi Yitzchak Schwartz from Israel will discuss his ancient Kabbalah traditions and beliefs with Hawaiian cultural practitioners Pua Mahoe and Maile Shaw on Thursday at ProArts Playhouse, beginning at 7 p.m.

An informal question-and-answer session will follow with chocolate desserts.

Father's Day service and brunch planned

KAHULUI - A Father's Day service is planned at 8 a.m. Sunday at Maui Evangelical Church at 256 Hina Ave.

All fathers present will be honored. A brunch will follow the service.

Reunion choir to perform Sunday

MAKAWAO - A reunion choir will sing Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor" at Sunday's celebration of the history of music at Makawao Union Church on Sunday, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The choir made up of present and former choir members and friends will sing several selections, capped off by the Bach piece, accompanied by the church's Reuter pipe organ, the largest on Maui.

Others will offer their stories of music in the life of the congregation, which is celebrating 150 years on Maui this year.

Makawao Union Church is an interdenominational community church, located at 1445 Baldwin Ave. For more information, call 579-9261.

Vacation Bible School offered

PUKALANI - Vacation Bible School will be offered at Pukalani Baptist Church from Monday to Friday.

The program is for children and youth in grades preschool through 12th grade.

The program runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m. each day.

Sports camp begins June 27

KULA - The Uncharted Waters Christian Sports Camp, sponsored by Waipuna Chapel, will be held June 27 to July 1, at the Kula soccer fields next to the Kula Fire Station.

The seventh annual event is for youths ages 4 to 12.

Sports offered include basketball, soccer, flag football and cheerleading.

The program runs from 3 to 6 p.m. each day, and snacks are included.

The cost is $45 per child; all campers get T-shirts.

Lei'ohu Ryder to speak in Wailuku

WAILUKU - Lei'ohu Ryder presents "He 'Ike Au" (This I know) at Unity Church of Maui on Sunday, beginning at 10 a.m.

Ryder offers blessings, music, public speaking, counseling, healing work and wedding ceremonies.
