PAIA - A "Buddha Birthday" celebration on the full-moon evening of Wednesday will be held at the Maui Tibetan Buddhist Dharma Center.
The birthday party will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Great Paia Lha Bab Peace Stupa, which will be adorned with lights as a reminder of Buddha's teachings of love, compassion and nonviolence.
Traditional prayers and some for world peace will be said and offerings will be made. Lama Gyaltsen will lead the service.

The Great Paia Lha Bab Peace Stupa at the Maui Tibetan Buddhist Dharma Center will be the site of a “Birthday Buddha” celebration on Wednesday.
In the Tibetan tradition, Gautama Buddha's birthday is celebrated during the fourth lunar month, which in Tibet is called saga dawa. On the full-moon day of this month, three very important events in the Buddha's life are honored - his birth, death and attainment of Nirvana.
The center located at 81 Baldwin Ave., and the public is invited to the event.
