Holy Week schedule released

KIHEI - St. Theresa Church has announced its 2011 Holy Week schedule.

Prior to Holy Week, the church plans to hold a lenten penance service at 7 p.m. April 14.

Holy Week begins the weekend of April 16 to 17 with Palm/Passion Sunday. Mass is set for 5:30 p.m. April 16, and at 7 and 9:30 a.m., and 5:30 p.m., on April 17.

The 7 a.m. daily Mass will be canceled on Holy Thursday, April 21. Mass of the Lord's Supper will be at 7 p.m. Fellowship in the parish hall will follow. Participants are asked to bring a loaf of bread and/or a favorite soup to share. Hale Kau Kau, the church's soup kitchen, also will serve soup.

The Celebration of the Lord's Passion will be held at noon and 7 p.m. April 22, Good Friday. There will be no 7 a.m. Mass that day.

Easter Vigil, or Holy Saturday Mass, will open with a blessing of the fire at 7:30 p.m. The regular 4:30 p.m. reconciliation on Saturdays will not be offered.

On Easter Sunday, April 24, Masses will be celebrated at 7 and 9:30 a.m. in the church and parish hall. There will be no 5:30 p.m. Mass.

The St. Theresa Church office will be closed the Monday after Easter. The church is at 25 W. Lipoa St. in Kihei.
