Hope Chapel marking 30 years

KIHEI - Hope Chapel will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a special 9 a.m. service Sunday on the north lawn outside the church at 300 E. Welakahao Road.

No child care will be available during the service. Festivities will continue after the service with food and games for children and adults.

Hope Chapel was founded in 1980 in Kihei.

Also, the chapel's 22nd school year of the AWANA Christian program for children age 3 through 6th grade will start Wednesday. Participants meet from 5:50 to 7:30 Wednesdays on the Hope Chapel campus, according to spokeswoman Toni Spence. AWANA is an acronym for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, from the biblical verse 2 Timothy 2:15, she said.

For more information on AWANA or other chapel matters, call 879-3853 or e-mail hope@hcmaui.com.
